Paul Bunyan Park in Bemidji is a great spot for the family to have
a little fun! Located right in the middle of downtown Bemidji on the Waters
edge. You cant miss Paul and his Blue Ox Babe!
Bemidji is known as the First City on the Mississippi River. Bemidji
is the sister city to New Orleans, the Last City on the Mississippi. Bemidji
even has its winter version of Mardi Gras! Now that I would like to see!
I bet its a blast!
Next to Paul Bunyan Park is a nice fishing dock open to the public.
So bring along a rod a send out a few casts!
Just out of town up the road a few miles is Bemidji State Park. Great
campsites available on Lake Bemidji. The campsites are not on the water
but the park has great access to the lake. Bemidji is about 35 minutes
north of Lake Itasca bordering Chippewa National Forest. Taking Hwy 2 west
from Duluth would be about a 3 hour drive ... give or take. North of Walker
about 40 minutes or so. And west of Hibbing about an hour. The entire area
is worth seeing. It is Minnesota's gem around these parts. You could spend
2 weeks driving around this area and have a great time at every turn in
the road. Bemidji has some great snowmobiling trails running through this
area. Plenty of winter activities going on including ice fishing.
